Darfur

The war in Darfur is the most deadly in the world. With an estimated 400,000 dead already, it is trending towards 1,000,000 and that would not be good. The population in Sudan has dropped and this war is terrible for the economy. So why is this war still in place even if it's terrible in almost every way? Because the Christian population in Darfur got mad at the government for being so loaded up on Muslims and then a simple dispute turned into a six-year-long war.
How is this even possible? Well I asked myself that same question. And here is what I have been able to come up with: according to
http://www.crimesofwar.org/onnews/news-darfur.html, Darfur is about 400,000 square Kilometers, (roughly the size of France) and it has about 8,000,000 people (roughly 2x the size of Ireland). And the name "Darfur" comes from the Arabic word "Dar" meaning home and "Fur" was a tribe in the Darfur area a few thousand years ago. They also said that Darfur was home to some of the Anglo-Egyptians who helped Sudan become an Independent nation.
I skipped a few paragraphs to get to the crisis part, and it says that part of it is because the Christian South had been deprived from benefits and had an almost non-existent economy. The Muslim North however had an amazing economy and tons of ties to well-off countries.
I have had the theory for a very long time that it also has to do with people feeling simple discrimination with religion and that people feeling that their religions were not accepted in their countries.
I will continue this tommarrow
